How to export devices list from terrible UI?
I need to get a usable list of my devices that I can actually read.
Where to start...
- First off the entire top half of the screen is taken up by the useless ports table. I can't imagine anyone really cares about that part and it probably shouldnt even be on this screen. What people really came here to see is the devices list, which is relegated to a fraction of the screen and has to be scrolled at least ten times to see the whole list.
- Secondly, I can't even see the entire IP addresses because the columns are fixed width! The last octet is the one most commonly used to identify a device and its hidden for all ipv6 addresses in this table.
- Third- why the **** can't I sort by IP address??? You gave us the ability to sort by almost every other column except the most important one? Why???
- Fourth- There is no way to select the table contents and paste to excel. When I try to select the whole table, like in most other websites, it only gives me one line, regardless of how many I select. Doing Ctrl+A selects the whole screen but only copies a few lines.
If I didn't know better I would think this UI was intentionally designed by a disgruntled employee who was intent on causing as much frustration as possible to the end user without getting caught.
I am just trying to get a list of my devices by IP and it's impossible. I would much rather have an oldschool DOS style text UI rather than this which seems to be just as bad as when I bought this thing years ago. Nothing is being done to update the UI to be compatible with modern use cases, as everything I see here seems to be designed for a user with less than 10 devices. Modern users have dozens if not hundreds of devices now!
Can you please tell me- What is the workaround to export the device list into some format that I can sort by column?
Thank You

- Netduma-FraserNetDuma PartnerThanks for your feedback. We have a lot of information to get on screen and as IPv6 addresses are particularly long that's why it doesn't fully appear, if you click on it then it will show the device panel where you can see the full IP. I'll pass on the suggestion for expanding the column width. Most people do not to sort by IP address and so we focused on the more common/used values to sort by. If you tell us what your usecase is i.e. why you want to put it in excel etc then we can look at solutions but it was not built for that purpose. You can export the device list with the name and MAC address on the beta.

Here's an example of what Orbi gives you. Orbi is kind of a joke compared to what a top of the line gaming router should be; yet it gives you a much more usable list of devices.
Ironically I have to use this orbi to see my devices because the r-app hardly ever loads on my Nighthawk. Firmware updates, reboots, facotry resets- don't do a damn thing.I would think that device name, MAC and IP would be the only columns people would sort by!
My use case is that I need to simply get a list of devices by IP on a screen at one time so I can see all my devices. In a modern application where you have 50-100 devices its very easy to loose track of what is what and manage a network efficiently without a master list.
Very few routers can do this but most can let you select the whole screen and export in a tabular format. Even a $20 tplink can do this. The UI on this thing is overengineered by someone who tried to make it look cool and red/black, but with no thought to actual usability.
Recently for example I was trying to track down a firewall popup that reported a SMB brutreforce attempt and listed an IPV6 address. Naturally I needed to see the full list of IPV6 devices on my network to determine if it was local and a known device or not.
Clicking on each listing in the table individually takes way too long. It seems reminiscent of the horrible trend lately to try and port stuff like this to mobile devices when it should never be displayed in such a format. The result is stuff like the awful windows 10 settings app, or the new Logitech G-Hub software which are both abysmal iterations of their windows 7 counterparts.
I will definitely check out the beta! Thank you. Hopefully it will load the r-apps now.- Netduma-LiamNetDuma Partner
Thanks again for your feedback, we'll be sure to pass this on to the team.
If you go to System information -> Installed Rapps -> Click the three line menu and set retries to 5, this should resolve your issue with Rapps not loading.
Let us know how you get on with the beta and if you have any questions please feel free to let us know.
