I have 20ms ping in pubg game, but still experience no response time

I have two routers: the main modem, a Huawei HG8145V5, and an XR1000, which I bought for better response time in PUBG. However, my smaller router performs better in PUBG than the XR1000, giving me better response time. I get 20ms ping on both routers, so what’s the benefit of the XR1000? Can anyone help me? I’ve already optimized many settings for gaming, but if there’s anything else I can do for PUBG, please let me know. Thanks!

  • Were you actually experiencing any lag or connectivity issues with the game? If you weren't and that's also the lowest ping you can achieve it's unlikely you'll get much better with the XR. The router works best when you're having issues and so there is room for improvement, it will help to make it more stable for you overall but you may not see a specific ping improvement.

Anyway, if we assume there is some room for improvement: How have you set the Huawei to ensure all traffic flows to the XR? E.g. XR in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode. Are ALL devices connected to the XR or do you still have some connected to the HG? How have you setup QoS/Geo-Filter?

I have a 20ms ping on both routers, the Huawei and the XR1000, but I’m facing an issue in-game. When I shoot at an enemy, my bullets aren’t registering, and after just 1 or 2 shots from them, I’m down. The XR is connected to the Huawei through a dynamic IP, and I’m only connected to the XR, with no other devices on the Huawei. I’ve also set up QoS, so what could be the problem?

I have a stable ping on both routers, but there’s a difference in response time and bullet registration. I get better bullet connectivity with the Huawei than with the XR. If I buy the Huawei for $5 and the XR for $500, there should be an improvement in bullet registration and response time, as well as a more stable connection to the server.
