Looking to buy a Gaming Router/Modem
Hey all, I’m looking to buy some form of gaming router/modem. Currently I have Virgin WiFi set up in the living room, although my pc is in another room, I need an Ethernet cable connecting to my pc for internet access, are any of these routers or models compatible with this, I’ve seen a lot that NEED to be plugged into my original Virgin modem, and that’s just not possible for me

So for your example you would either need to connect the router to the Virgin Hub in the same room and then run a long ethernet cable to the other room for your PC or run a long ethernet cable to your room to connect to the router and then connect to your PC. You could use a power line adapter to extend the wired network using the house wiring and then connect a router to the other side. However, in my experience this highly depends on your house wiring as to how effective this will be.

For modems with a built in router already:https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the NG router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the NG router gets from the modem.
