Netgear Nighthawk rx500 can not connect to the internet

I have the netgear nighthawk rx500 gaming routerbut cant connect to the internet, butmy internet provider is cox cable and they gave me a router that has a built on modem, andv when i hook up the two with a lan cable the nighthawk is not reciving the internet.

  • How have you connected them together? The ethernet cable should go from the Cox modem LAN port to the XR Internet/WAN port. Do you know if you require PPPoE/a login to access the internet properly?

    Couple of options,
    1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the NG router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
    2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the NG router gets from the modem.
