New purchase can’t connect with existing cable
I just bought this router to try and improve my overall Internet experience and the old AT&T router has a phone cable going into it this new router only accepts ethernet can I just simply use a patch converter or can I not use this at all?

- Netduma-FraserNetDuma PartnerThe router requires you to connect it to an existing modem/router. I'd suggest you connect it directly to the AT&T router and put the AT&T into modem or bridge mode, failing that put the XR500 WAN IP found in System Information into the DMZ on the AT&T and disable the WiFi on the AT&T.
- Nopatients4thisAspirantHow should I connect it to the AT&T modem, do I use an ethernet port from AT&T to the internet port on the net gear? and how do I put the AT&T modem into that mode?
- Netduma-FraserNetDuma PartnerUse an ethernet cable to connect the LAN port of the AT&T to the Internet port of the XR500. You would need to access the AT&T router and adjust the settings there. Usually there will be a sticker on the router to tell you how to access the interface. If not look up your AT&T model online and it should show you how.
