Nighthawk App not updating devices with xr500
Router Firmware - XR500 V2.3.2.56
App: Nighthawk
App Version: 2.6.2.1242
Operating System: Android (Galaxy S8, model SM-G950U)
Androis OS Version: 9
When using the mobile app (over wifi, connected to my XR500), I am trying to make an update to a connected device. When I open the app, I click on the list of devices. all of them are showing "unknown" for the device type and standard icon (antenna with circles). When I tap on one to edit, I have "edit" button on top right, after clicking that, I can change the name, or tap the pencil to change the icon/type. I tap the pencil to edit the icon, select a new icon and\or name and click save. I click save again on the screen that has the device name and the new icon. I get a message saying "updated successfully" at the bottom of the screen. when tapping the back arrow, I see the updated icon and device type. However, when I swipe down to refresh, the device type and icon go back to the default and "unknown" status. I've let it sit on this screen for a 1-2 minutes before refreshing, but same issue. When I first started using this app, I had issues with just the name change where it wouldn't save it. Now, it seems its just the icon/device type. I have submitted this issue before back in Febuary and was told this was due to a firmware issue on the router. Now its 8 months later and the same issue is still happening.

You have posted your message in the section of this community given over to Nighthawk WiFi Routers. (This is easily done, given Netgear's impenetrable community structure.)
You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers about your hardware, in the appropriate section for your device. That's probably here:

I have asked the Netgear moderator to move your message.- Netduma-FraserNetDuma PartnerI don't think that is a firmware issue given it is done on the app. If you change the name/type on the router interface does that work?
