Nighthawk XR1000 intermittent drops wifi

Well where to start, so set was iffy at best pages took a long time to load. Upgraded to 1gb up/down and had to restart router. Did that and router took about 10 minutes to comeback online. Changed setting from auto to 2 separate bands, when router restarted everything went back to factory defaults. I had to even download the firmware again. Seems coverage was better with Google wifi at slower speeds. Now I have devices that just drop connection unexpectedly. How can this be a gaming router and play games when the Xbox keeps dropping randomly, also my nest camera drops and it is literally 15 feet from router, also Galaxy ultra phone that connected to 5ghz bad will not resolve ip address, recommendations? Hate to factory reset yet again..... Also dumaos is trash, does not even see all the devices connected to wifi, all this tech and not very impressed with Netgear this far
  • Are you using Armor? If so disable that as we've seen that cause some issues in the past. In LAN Settings, set static/reserved IPs for the devices, apply, reboot from the interface, wait 2 minutes before accessing/using the internet and then see if it appears to be more stable.

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

What channels are you using? Auto? Try Auto and 48 on 5Ghz. Or try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Firmware is 1.0.0.58_1.0.44,  I am using auto on 2.4ghz band and switched to 48 on 5ghz was 44 before. The only thing I have hooked up lan is my lutron hub. Once the xbox disconnected I did not try to log into the router, just made a sad face and went to bed. Was playing some elden ring so the frustration was high :). I live on a corner lot, there is me and 1 neighbor, so there should not be much interference.  I know the nest cam constantly goes off line because I get a notification when it is offline for 10 minutes, it is really odd, I made the cam use 5ghz because it said 2.4 was not  able to handle the bandwidth and 720p video..... Not even using 4k or 1080p......... Sorry forgot to add the modem is behind lock and key from my ISP, if the issue keeps up I will break it open and get a definitive answer, that was not changed when they upgraded the speed.

  • Good questions above from FURRYe38, that would be useful to know.

In addition, I'd suggest factory resetting the XR1000 since upgrading the line, this is important to do as it'll be like a new connection to the XR.

Are wired devices also dropping connection or is it just wireless clients?

When devices drop connection, are you still able to access the DumaOS interface by going to 192.168.1.1 or routerlogin.net in your web browser?

    Let us know.
