Nighthawk xr500 connection issues

Hi all,

Purchased a XR500 router yesterday to replace my D-Link. I'm having issues setting it up wirelessly. When I try to connect wirelessly using my laptop it says it can't connect. The router itself is accessing the internet, and when I connect my laptop to the router using the ethernet cable I can access the internet, just not wirelessly,

I was accessing Dlink support to try and fix my old router yesterday and they accessed my computer remotely and changed some settings on my laptop. I presume this is why I can't get it to connect. As I'm not overly tech savvy I thought I'd see if anyone could help.

Thanks for listening to my rant.....

Do you know what they changed on your laptop?

Be sure the adapter on the laptop is set for automatic IP addressing, not static IP addressing.

You might ask D-Link what they changed.

What is the model # of the D-Link router you have?

Whats the Mfr and model of the wifi adapter in this laptop?

Do other devices connect to the XRs wifi correctly?

Thanks for the tips. Ended up being a static IP address. Changed that and all is good with the world 😁

Was going to say, sounds like static IP! Good job on finding the solution.
