Nighthawk XR500 Not Starting Up

Hello!

 

I just receieved a certified refurbished XR500 Nighthawk Pro Gaming Router in the mail, which I ordered off of Amazon.  Followed all the steps, plugged it in, downloaded the app, etc.  It powers up for a quick second, power button turns orange, holds there for about 10 seconds, and then powers off again.  Everything is connected correctly.  Tried this multiple times.  Restarted my modem, etc.  Something seems off.  Any tips?  Possible that I just have a defective device?

    It could be defective, especially if it has been refurbished. However, could you try plugging directly into a wall outlet rather than a power extender and see if you have the same issue please? Also do you have another power adapter with similar voltage you could try?
