Ping and download speed the same as modem?
There is no difference in my internet speed or ping on my xfinity modem compared to my nighthawk xr500 router the only thing different I can do is connect the nighthawk xr500 router to the closest server which only lowered my ping from 45 to 39? I thought it would lower my ping to about 25 or less? that’s the only difference 6 less ping?. Or is there settings in the nighthawk xr500 router software to make it much lower.

- A router won't give you higher speeds, that's down to your ISP. It can't lower your ping to a value that you want as it's dependent on other variables. What it can do is allow you to have the best connection possible for your situation and it sounds like it is working.
