PS5 and Xbox Series X fighting over ports and PS5 is winning

I am hoping someone can help by indicating if one of the Nighthawk routers will take care of this problem. It must keep the consoles completely separate to keep the PS5 from taking over. We have never had this problem until we upgraded to the newer consoles. The PS5 cannot be connected in any way if we want to be able to play online with the Xbox Series X.

New kind of expereince. Haven't see this posted about before.

Seems like this would be a Sony/MS issue rather than a router issue.

Yes, the PS5 is the problem but the research we have done suggests that Netgear Nighthawk routers may be the answer, the R7000 has been mentioned specifically but we are wondering if any other models have had the same success.  Thank you for your response.

What happens if you turn on the xbox first?

Would need to know what the R7000 configuration is that was mentioned to tell if other NH router could do  the same.

Possible NAT Filter option could be helpful here...All NG routers have this feature.

  • Could you explain more about what actually happens when both are connected at the same time?
