I'd suggest you upgrade to the latest firmware:
https://www.netgear.com/support/product/XR500#Firmware%20Version%202.3.2.66
Please also perform a factory reset after the upgrade to ensure you're starting from a clean slate and see if the issue persists!
That would be cool if I had the xr500 but since I have the xr700 I think I will pass, but tyvm
