what router for nighthawk cm1200 modem

what router should I use with this modem, I also am curious if there are any extra settings to help with latency. Also would getting my own nighthawk router help with ping?

Thats a very loaded statement. and it comes down to a lot of details.

    how big is your home?

    what is it made of?

How many devices do you want to support?

are you looking at single router solutions (if possible) or a mesh setup?

And finally, budget? sad but important.

if you're looking at single router solutions, the R7800 is pretty solid.

If you're looking at mesh solutions, the triband orbi linup is pretty solid as well.

  • im not really interested about wifi mainly, im gonna be using a ethernet. Im mainly just looking to increase consistency with latency.

Statement didn't really help at all.

If you're not looking at wifi, then just directly connect to the modem. Least amount of latency as its a direct connection.

If you're looking at running more then 1 device, then look at a gigabit router. And then again it comes back to details

The main concept 'm trying to ask is, would there be a point to get a nighthawk router on top of the modem, regarding to latency or does the router only matter for wifi and multiple devices.
