Xbox One settings to improve lag/performance

Hello,

New to this community! Just wondering if there is a good setup for xbox one (specifically playing Destiny 2) to reduce lag and improve performance of the router. Currently have comcast with 150mb connection, Motorola SB6141 modem, and run R6400 wired connection. Still experience lag issues. It seems that hit markers have alot of delay and have some lag issues. Is there a way to improve the performance of this router if so can someone give some guidance. I never messed with the settings on the router but would love to know ways to improve. Please let me know and thank you!

I am a competitive player and do alot of player vs player so maybe I should just invest in XR500?

Thanks again!

  • Hi Blue Cheese!

I work for the developers of DumaOS, the unique software which the XR500 has. So I will give you my perspective and it's then obviously up to you to decide if it's worth investing into the XR500.

Lag in games, especially Destiny, is normally caused by one of four things:

    1. The distance from you to ther server / host of your game. The further away the server is, the higher your 'ping', and this is what causes so much delay
    2. Other devices in your home using all your bandwidth. This creates congestion, and will significantly slow your game down
    3. Other laggy players in your game. Even if you have a great connection, other players with bad connections need to be compensated by the game to make it playable for them. This can bring you down
    4. Your basic connection quality. Most people have a very good connection, but say you lived in a remote area, this can be poor

The XR500 is designed from the ground up to fix the first three causes:

    1. The Geo-Filter guarantees you a local connection, blocking distant hosts to get you a low ping
    2. The QoS has the complete toolset to prevent other devices from using all your bandwidth. It also automatically prioritizes your gaming connection
    3. Allow & Deny can be used to block other laggy players in Destiny, so you won't constantly be matched up with them
    4. Nothing a router can do about 4 - but as I say, this isn;t a problem for most people

If you want to look into this more, you can read more here: rapps.dumaos.com - each feature has a little play icon next to it if you'd prefer to watch a video instead.

Thanks for the reply! I will do more research but most likely will upgrade it to XR500.

Can get into a XR450 for $100 less if you have a costco near by and a member. :smileywink:
