xr500 keeps rebooting

I bought this router back in December 2019, now since last week it's been rebooted 3 or 4 times a day which is ridiculous. I paid almost 300 dollars for a device that is acting this way. I updated the firmware to the latest version, turned off UPnP, and tried to hide the network name but the router is still restarting.

While I was in a round online gaming, I realized that I couldn't do anything. I looked up and see the lights are on but no internet then a minute later boom, it restarts.

This is really pissing me off and I'm tired of troubleshooting this issue.

I also see some DOS attacks recorded on the logs but I think they are blocked from dos protection that's enabled hopefully.

Please let me know on what else that I can do to prevent the router from restarted itself.

  • Do you have the router plugged into a power extender? If so plug it directly into a wall outlet. Does it happen to all devices or just specific devices? When it happens, go to System Information on the interface, does it say it's still connected?

The router was originally plugged in to the surge protecter. I now switched it the power outlet.

What does that have to do with troubleshooting this issue? I know plugging into the surge protector is more safe than plugging in directly to the power outlet to prevent future surges to the router.

When the router reboot itself, it does say it's still connected but the logs disappears so it's hard to provide more information when the router comes back online.

Do you have any more ideas about this?

In the past I've seen routers that reboot when connected to an extender instead of the wall outlet, possibly if there are too many devices pulling power. Was there anything that happened last week on the network or perhaps electrically like an outage that you can think of prior to the issue occurring?
