XR500 with relatively consistent lag spike between computer and modem

Hello,

I have a 1GB internet with the XR500 and I'm getting a semi consistent lag spike between 1ms to 1000ms every 10 seconds interval or so. What can I do to deal with this?

I have wiped the computer, reinstall windows, reset router, and I'm out of things to do.

  • 1000ms is quite fast, if you did that in Ping Plotter for example it can show false packet loss. Try with 2500ms. You're pinging the router so that will be down to the connection method you've chosen. Try a new ethernet cable and see if you get better results.

Surely I'm not delusional. I have played games for less than 100ms lag and it's still annoying. When you say at 2500ms that is 2.5 seconds response time. In what world it is acceptable to have a 2.5 seconds between sending and responding from and to your router?

Have I been scammed by this router?

2.5 seconds is what the PingPlotter default interval is when testing for connection problems. ICMP is different to the ping/connection type used when gaming. You've done this test but have you actually experienced any packet loss when gaming etc? What is the average ping as shown by the Geo-Filter?
