mobile app (iOs) app not showing satellite connections - 2024
HI there
it is now late 2024 , and I have the age old problem of the mobile ORBI application (IoS) not showing the satellite connections to the Access point (RBR50) . It is a set up of
1. RBR50 connected via hard wire backhaul to three (3) satellites . These satellites are two (2) RBS50v2 and 1 (1) RBS20
2. The firmware across all three satellites are versions V2.7.4.24
3. The setup of the Access point and the 3 satellites work. I see the satellite connections when logging in as Admin to the browser.
4. The issue is the lack visual diagram showing the connection of 3 satellites to the Access point . All it shows is the RBR50 and not the 3 satellites
5. A few days ago I had submitted this case and talked to Orbit Help Desk. They found a few things that need to be corrected which was all done but the original problem persists.
I tried to upload the jpg files but was not successful as I got an error message of 'Uploading Orbi_iOS+app01.jpg resulted in the following error: Error Code: Upload Failed"
History - I was able to see the setup up in the earlier versions of the mobile app but then lost the ability with the newer version.
Any help would be appreciated ..perhaps how to upload photos (these are small photos ranging from 160Kb - 340Kb size..

It would be useful to know some more detail:
- What 'mode' is the RBR50 set to?
('router' or 'access point (AP) ?) - Exactly how is the Ethernet cabling connected
- From the ISP device to the RBR50?
- From the RBR50 to each satellite?
- Are there any Ethernet switches involved in the configuration?
Just as a FYI, Netgear released new firmware for the 50 product in Feb, 2023. The Firmware Update mechanism in the RBR50 does not detect or install this new firmware. It can be downloaded from the support site, unpacked from the zip file, and installed using the manual tab on the Firmware Update page. (satellites first, RBR50 last). There does not appear to be matching new firmware for the RBS20, so it might be safer not to update the firmware. Firmware level would not seem to be relevant to this particular issue.
Is it possible to install the Orbi app on a different device (smartphone, tablet) and verify that it behaves the same way as the primary IoS devices does?
When the Orbi 'app' is running, does it show the connection as
- Anywhere Access?, or
- Local Access?

Hi
Many thanks for your thoughtful response.. Responses below
1. What 'mode' is the RBR50 set to? - It is set to Access Point /AP mode
2. Exactly how is the Ethernet cabling connected ?
- The router RBR50 is hardwired to AT&T modem /router BGW210. it is the AT&T router and not the Orbi RBR50 that issues IP addresses to all connected devices
- RBR50 is hard wired connected to ethernet switch Netgear Gigabit Switch GS108
- The ethernet switch is then hardwired connected to the three satellites . Translation the Access Point is not connected directly to the satellites nor are they daisy linked to each other.
- The backhaul connections are all hard wired.
- Two of the three satellites are RBS50v2 and the 3rd satellite is RBS20
- Router Firmware Version is V2.7.4.24
- The early versions of the mobile (iOS) application showed the connections between the Access point and the satellites ..
- This feature of showing satellite connections stopped working with subsequent upgrades to the mobile app
Any progress on this?

Do the RBS appear as wired connected devices on the RBRs web page?
