Orbi App Admin Credentials

First time trying to sign in the orbi app in a while and it now asks for admin login which I have never had to do before. Weird thing is it only happens on my new android phone. Dusted off the old android and had no issues logging in.

Seems like everyone is having problems. No idea how to fix and a factory reset for only one affected phone is insane.

I also use Android, with the Orbi 'app' on multiple phones/tablets.  (iPhone users had their own "seven circles of hell" recently.)

From time-to-time, a device will suddenly require credentials when it has gone months without doing so.  (a hunch is that the Orbi 'app' was updated, but I have not paid that much attention.)

On a new device, I believe this is what is supposed to happen:

    • The app has to know which specific Orbi is supposed to be involved.  It does this by asking for the Netgear login credentials (same as the Community Forum), i.e. email address and password.
It uses this information to query the Netgear cloud database to find a link to the actual Orbi router.  When the router boots up, it opens a connection to the Netgear cloud.  My sense is the process is:
      * This user account has a link to this specific Orbi router.
      * This router can be reached through this internet link.
    • Then, it has to know that the user is authorized to control this router by asking for the web administration credentials, which are "admin" and whatever password has been set on the router.

My experience is that more often than I like, the Orbi 'app' suggests credentials that are not appropriate, such as an email acccount I used years ago, "admin" when it should be an email, etc.

Your old phone remembered the login details.

Nothing really weird about that. You need to get the new phone acquainted with the network.
