Remote access loss

Every time I leave my house for more than 3 weeks I lose remote access to my Orbi app. It’s happened 6 times . Do i need a different system this one is terrible?

  • Oh, Geez.  This one is one strange situation.  The basic strategies in trouble shooting:

    • Can I reproduce the problem? (duh - no)
    • Is this a frequent topic? (again - no)
    • Are there any obvious indicators? (no)

    That doesn't leave much.  Common suggestions are:

    • Is the router firmware at the most recent release?
      (People are reluctant to spend time investigating what might be wrong with previous firmware and could have been fixed in a more recent version.)
      (Also, the Oribi Firmware Update function very often is not aware of new firmware, which gives customers a false belief that they are "current".  Checking the Netgear support web site is the only way to know the most recent release.)
    • Is there a definite pattern?  Does it matter if the Orbi app is accessed daily during those three weeks?
    • What is the specific error?

    One thing I have noticed is a distinct pattern of the Orbi 'app' not remembering login credentials when the app has been updated.  The Android Orbi app gets a new release about once a month.  If this happens when the smartphone is not connected locally, maybe that interferes with Anywhere Access??

     

    Geez. What a pickle.
