Senior needs help with Netgear Orbi APP

No, if all is setup on your phone with the log in information that your son put on his phone, should show up.
Make sure all log in information is input. Have you son help you with this and check it. There is a NG account log in that has to be entered first, then the log in for the RBR, thats a admin user name then password that was set on the RBR for it's web page log in that is same.
Make sure you phone is not using any Mac addressing randomizers.
Sometimes its best to turn off existing connected RBS so that the incoming RBS can get connection with less hassle. Once it's connected you can just turn ON the existing RBS and they'll re-connect with out having to re-sync them.
