850 satellite won’t connect to 750 router

I have an orbi mesh system with a 750 router and 3-750 satellites in my home with fiber.

I bought an 850 kit as I’m having separate service installed in my barn and I needed a router for the barn.

I want to use the 850 satellite with my 750 mesh system as an additional satellite. However it won’t connect. I’ve tried to add it over the air. I’ve tried to add it by hardwiring it with Ethernet to the 750 router (when I did this I got a solid blue light on the 850 satellite yet it wouldn’t add to my existing mesh system.) And I’ve tried to add it by going through the orbilogin.com site and using the admin settings. NO GO.

the net gear compatibility chart says this should work.

Can anyone advise?

thanks I’m advance.

  • Make sure the firmware versions are matching between the router and the satellites. That can cause issues.

I don’t believe software is the same as the router is a 750 and the new satellite is an 850.

How can k update the software on the 850 satellite to match the 750 router?

well if you bought the "kit" it should have a router and a satellite. For each, just download the firmware from the website, then install the "kit" and update the satellites first, then the router. Make sure they're on the same for each kit.
