Another CBR750 and Comcast/Xfiniity ISP Service Issue
Hi, I'm creating this post in response to https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi-with-Built-in-Cable-Modem/NOTICE-CBR750-and-Comcast-Xfiniity-ISP-Service-Issue/m-p/2286189 I have a CBR750 with...

Ya, the CBR really should be synced at 800 and no more than 1Gb.
Connections page looks good. Minor Correctables on 1st channel but nothing to impact anything.
Keep on them.

So I had an Xfinity technician out at my place on Sunday - he did find one unused customer cable from a neighboring property was causing distortion so he capped that off. He feels that may be the reason for the correctibles on some of the channels. For other Xfinity clients viewing this I had to go through their "Update Plan" wizard to re-configure the speed of my connection to 800Mb/s. What he told me is that I was on an older plan (I selected this plan 18 months ago when I moved into this house) so I had to "upgrade" my plan to their latest plan definition even though I was actually seeking to ensure that I was configured for 800 Mb/s and nothing higher. This ended up costing me around $10/month more for exactly the same services I had on my existing plan...
I'm travelling out of town this week, so haven't been able to confirm whether all of these changes have resulted in stability. My wife did experience an outage on Tuesday and I had to talk her through rebooting the router. I can't tell right now if it was the same issue or something different as I can't see the logs. I will keep monitoring for the next week or so, as the speed slowdown and the need to reboot usually presents itself between every two or three days.
The Xfinity technician did share that they recently introduced what he called mid-split on the network to improve the speed upstream speeds. My modem only syncs to 4 upstream channels. He said he would follow up internally about the status between Xfinity and Netgear to ensure that they have a valid boot file supporting these additional channels on the network. This is an interim step towards DOCSIS 4 roll-out, which be able to provide symmetrical download and upload speeds via cable, similar to fiber.

Thanks for the update and details. Good to know the tech is on it.
Ya seems be changes happening at the ISP and with NG. Hopefully the tech was able to fix the issue.
Let us know how it turns out when you get back.
Have a great weekend.- angelohJun 13, 2023Aspirant
An update - the problem still persists. I've had two instances where my speed has slowed down and I've had to reboot my router in the past week. It doesn't appear that any of these configuration changes have resolved the issue. I guess Xfinity and Netgear need to align on an updated boot file to ensure that the modem syncs correctly with the new channels added by Xfinitiy. I don't have any visibility into the progress between Xfinity and Netgear, if they are even working on a solution to this problem.
I would be curious to know if this problem is regional. I am in Colorado (Colorado Springs) and would love to know if any other Xfinity users are successfully using a CBR750 without such issues in Colorado.
