Can no longer run Freevee app on Samsung TV after RBR750 firmware 7.2.6.31

Everything was working well on my Orbi RBR750 and RBS750. I update to version 7.2.6.31 and I can no longer launch the Orbi app on my Samsung Q80 smart tv. It has a long error message stating it cannot connect with error code 4001.  I have done the following unsuccessfully:

*uninstall/reinstall freevee

*rebooted router

*hard booted tv

*reset Samsung tv smart hub

*power off reboot cable modem

*unplugged TV, router, and cable modem and left off for 5 minutes

i can launch prime video, but the live tv does not work. I can run Freevee through my appleTV , but it’s slow. I’m not tech savvy to all the network settings and this network gear has been problematic since day 1 and I’m ready to ditch the NETGEAR and switch to Eero mesh.

  • I will try my best to describe:

    1. I cannot say with any certainty what firmware version was previously installed. I was using the Orbi app, looking at the Router Setting page, and I clicked the “Check for Updates” button. It indicated firmware update available, and I proceeded from there.

    2. Both the Router and Satellite are on the same version ( v7.2.6.31_5.0.24 )

    3. The Samsung tv is connected via WIFI to the Orbi Router. I am using Spectrum cable internet.

    4. The Orbi system ( both app and web browser) show the Samsung Tv successfully connected.

    5. There is no Parental controls or Armor enabled on this device.
    6. I mentioned Smart Hub only because I initially contacted Amazon about the issue. They had me reset the Smart Hub and I was unsure if it was relevant to troubleshooting.

    7. I am unaware of any other devices experiencing issues since the update. Currently, I am able to successfully stream internet and LiveTV content from any other app (Netflix, Disney, Plex).

However, Prime Video will stream movies, but fails when I try to view Live TV , which uses Freevee. Both Prime and Freevee work when going through AppleTV. The appleTV is wired to the router.

    thank you again!

  • Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update? A complete pull of the power adapters for a period of time after the factory reset then walk thru the setup wizard and setup from scratch with a wired PC and web browser. https://kb.netgear.com/22697/How-do-I-install-my-NETGEAR-router-using-the-router-web-interface
Recommend setting the default DHCP IP address pool range to the following after applying and a factory reset: 192.168.#.100 to 192.168.#.200.

      Thank you for the response.

I tried a factory reset with no success. I tried changing DHCP settings to the range you recommended (192.168.x.100-200), and still am not having any success. I did not that Prime Video works, but not when trying to view the Live TV option within the app. Prime Video and Freevee both work fine when running from the AppleTV interface, but both fail when trying to run the apps from the Samsung Tv.

Admittedly, I am not tech savvy enough to delve too much into settings changes. But, I did note router error logs being generated on several devices including the Samsung TV indicating “[site blocked: ca] from source”.

A lot of "interlocking pieces" here. Could you please describe

        • When everything was working, what firmware version was on the router and satellite?
        • How was the firmware updated? (app? web interface? manually?)
        • Are the router and satellite both now on the same version (7.2.6.31)?
        • How is the Samsung TV connected (router/satellite? wired or WiFi?)
        • Do the Orbi system and the Samsung TV show the TV successfully connected?
        • Are Armor or Smart Parental Controls (SPC) enabled on this system?
        • How is the Samsung "Hub" related to the situation?
        • Are any other devices exhibiting unusual behavior?
