Can the RBR750 utilise a 1.6gb connection?

I've got a RBR750 mesh network. I have a 1.6gb fibre line available. Is there any point getting it? Can the RBR750 handle a connection speed that fat or is it capped at 1gb?

  • Its ports max out at gigabit speeds. You can do wan port aggregation that combines the wan port and the lan port for 2 gig speeds but your fibre connection needs to support that. And it won't output that over the other ports. So it'd really only help for wireless and if you were saturating the gigabit line. Which most don't. For most people gigabit is more than enough because even streaming 4k only takes 25-50mbps. So unless you're doing a ton of 4k streaming or massive data downloads, over gigabit speed is only really a bragging point.

That's what I thought. Thanks for clarifying. I'll just have to either use the ISP's equipment or invest in a newer mesh system.

Why do you think you need the faster speed? The RBR750 is still pretty fast and will be able to do more than many devices. With the proper connection (not to far/proper wifi card) it'll hit gigabit speeds over wireless.

I really haven't noticed much difference in speeds since I've went over 500mbps download. I pay for 2gig just for testing equipment or I'd have downgraded. I noticed more on my plan going from the 40mbps upload to the 300mbps upload that xfinity now offers.
