Cannot login to RBR850 interface with browser or App

I have an Orbi RBR850 and RBS850. We had an electrical storm two nights ago. There was some flickering of lights but no complete failure. All computers, routers, etc. are wall connected through surge suppressors. All connections, including the RBS, seemed fine afterward. Fully connected to the Internet with no problems.

Until I tried to connect to the Orbi web interface the next day and got the "cannot find the server" message. I tried reaching it by the IP address, the orbilogin.com address and the routerlogin.com address. I plugged a Mac Mini into the router using Ethernet directly. When I logged in remotely to that Mini it cannot reach the interface either. The Orbi app can see it's connected but cannot reach it to get any information.

I read through several postings and insured all devices were trying the correct network, not trying to use a guest network. I had updated the firmware within the last month so I don't think that's the problem. Access to the Internet is no problem. I just can't get into the interface in any way. I am using macOS 15.4.1 and iOS 18.4.1. All responses I see here seem to be 2-3 years old.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

  • This RBR850 is in 'router' mode or 'access point' mode?

What is the IP address assigned to the Mac Mini?

It is in Router mode the last time I was able to connect to it.

      10.0.0.17

With the Mac Mini being assigned 10.0.0.17, I would expect the Orbi router LAN interface to appear at 10.0.0.1

Normally, Orbi routers create a LAN subnet of 192.168.1.x and the Orbi LAN IP is 192.168.1.1.

However, if the Orbi WAN port is assigned an IP address in 19.168.1.x, then the default behavior is to create the LAN subnet as 10.0.0.x with the Orbi LAN side taking 10.0.0.1  On Windows, the command ipconfig /all will show the device IP, subnet mask, and gateway IP.  There is probably a similar command on the Mac Mini.  The gateway address is where the Orbi router should appear.

This IP address can be reached only from a device on the LAN subnet.
