Can't login to Orbilogin.com

I have a ORBI RBR750 (not sure that will matter for this question) that is connected via CAT6 cable to my ATT Gateway.

 

I have the Orbi app and I'm login with no issues.  When I try to login to orbilogin.com / orbilogin.net on my laptop so I can check the settings it doesn't accept my password.  I used to have a Netgear Nighthawk but that seems to be separate login and site than the Orbi (but I did try that login / pw).

 

Waited on hold for 45 min to talk to Netgear tech support, they told me that the login for my app and orbinlogin.com are the same (but it's not).  

 

I went as far as trying to do a pw reset but it asked me a security question that I don't know the answer to (and won't give me a different question).  I don't recall ever setting this up so not sure if that is some default screen.  I really hesitate to reset my whole system because everything is setup the way I want and it feels like an unnecessary step that will cause me more headaches (not even sure that would even help).

 

1. Are the Orbi app and the router settings login supposed to be the same?

2. If I create a new Orbi login will that cause a problem?

3. Is the only way to change settings is via the orbi login page?  Or can that be done via the Orbi App.

 

Ultimately I'm trying to figure out why my speed is considerable lower via the Orbi than going directly thru the gateway (but that's a question for a different thread).

 

Go easy on me, first post here and although I'm relatively technical I admit this is all greek to me.

    Be sure to clear out all browser caches before entering the RBRs web page. 

    Try a different browser.

    1. No. They are different.
      1. The Orbi app uses the Netgear login and password.
        (Usually the same credentials used to access the community forum.)
      2. The Orbi web interface (www.orbilogin.net or www.orbilogin.com ) always has the user name "admin" and whatever password was set when the router was initially configured.  (It comes 'out of the box' set to
        "password" and one of the first steps is to change it.)
    2. If a web login is rejected three times in a row, the web interface pops up that Password Recovery page which wants answers to security questions that were supposed to be filled in during the initial setup. Many customers skip over this step by accident.

      If you cannot come up with the web password, then the only way to gain access to the router is to do a Factory Reset and setup from scratch - which erases all settings.(and puts the password back to "password".)
    3. Lots of settings can be changed with the Orbi app, but the web password is not one of them. (nor can the app change any 'advanced' settings.)
