Connect to Arlo doorbell camera
Just installed a new Netgear Orbi mesh router. My Gen 1 Arlo door bell camera will not connect. Arlo tech support was unable to solve the problem. Anyone else know or have this issue? Arlo only oper...

So a 750P. (Some Orbi models don't let you set power levels, but I think the 750P does). FURRYe38 likely knows.
This is not a model I've owned, but I believe you will find transmit power if you
- go into the web ui,
- select the advanced tab
- select "advanced setup" at the bottom
- select "wireless settings" (under "advanced setup")
You might also look at the wireless setup page (after selecting to the advanced tab).
You want to reduce the power of the 5 ghz radio - temporarily setting it to 10%

That is the funny thing, the Orbi app logged it in the device list when going thru the Arlo set up, but it won't work.
There are two steps in getting the doorbell back into your account.
- the doorbell needs to join your new wifi network. That step was successful.
- the app then needs to find the doorbell on your network. That has apparently failed.
The second step has worked with my Orbi routers, but it has been quite a while since I needed to install the AVD1001.
FWIW, my normal practice is to set up my new router to use the same wifi network name and password as the old one. Then I don't need to change the setup on any of my client devices (including Arlo cameras). I don't recall what Orbi model I was using when I first set up the doorbell - likely it was an RBR50, not the 870 I am using now).
Anyway, before you give up, try reducing the power of the 5 ghz transmission during the install attempt. Make sure your phone is connected to your home wifi (maybe disable mobile data during the install). If you use a VPN, then make sure it is turned off.

- temporarily change the Orbi network name to something else
- connect up the extender to the Orbi (instead of the old router)
- change the extender network name to match the final Orbi network name and password you want
- do the install
- power down the extender
- change the Orbi network name back
At this point the AVD1001 should join the Orbi network
But try reducing the 5 ghz power first.

I've only used Arlo cameras myself (FWIW, I am also a superuser on the Arlo community forum). I don't have personal experience with other vendor's smart doorbells.
If you are prepared to buy something, you could also get a VMB4540 smarthub, and connect that the the Orbi satellite that is closest to the doorbell (which you do with ethernet, not wifi). Then you could add the smarthub to your Arlo account, and then connect the doorbell to the smarthub.
