Help needed! Why don't I see devices connected to a switch? RBR750 with 2x RBS750

My network: RBK753 series, 1 RBR and 2 RBS nodes.

RBR is directly connected to the modem ofc, 1 satellite only has a wired connection to a desktop, 2nd satellite has a switch connected (currently a Netgear GS305E). However, for some reason I don't see any connected devices behind the GS305E, from time to time for a brief moment I do see the GS305E, but nothing else connected to that switch. Is this how it is?

Every device connected to the switch is online and working, the log on my RBR is even giving them DHCP leases. But the connected devices behind the switch never shows up in connected devices, which doesn't allow me to reserve the IPs etc.

This is on the web browser interface, Attached Devices screen, correct?

  • Maybe due to having a managed switch. Try a non managed switch:

NG GS-105/108v4 and GS308v3, D-Link DGS-105/108 and HP ProCurve 1400/1800 series switches work for Orbi systems.

Also recommend CAT6 lan cables as well.

Also be sure that host names of devices don't have any special characters in the name. Seen this hose up the system. I think underscore and dashes are ok.

The LAN Setup page works by entering the MAC address, IP address, and "Friendly Name" of devices.  Devices do not have to appear on the Attached Devices screen to have IP addresses reserved.  Part of my 'process' when connecting a new gizmo to the network is often to assign an IP address before even connecting the device to the network at all.  (I get grumpy when purchasing things that do not display the MAX address on the product or on the box it came in.)

I remain confused by terminology.  Netgear helpfully chose to use two different terms to describe devices:

    • The web browser interface uses the term "Attached Devices", and
    • The Orbi 'app' uses the term "Connected Devices"

You are using the web browser interface, correct?

Actually on the RBR web page it's Connected Devices. On the Orbi app its Device Manager/Devices online.

        Thanks for catching the error:

        I am so easily confused!
