how good is the ORBI tri band 6 ?
Hi Wise ones...
We are running out of ideas to get a decent internet connection to the attic room and looking for some advice. We have 500mb line and have been trying various powerline options, but the stretch to the top of the house is only giving 20mb but with an unrealible connection.
im seriously considering splashing out on the Orbi tri-band 6 with 3 statelites giving the option to connect the tv and PC in the attic via the ethernet ports
realistically, what sort of connected and wireless speeds could i expect between 3 floors in an edwardian house ?

Details are key on this. A 3 level home could be 3000st ft or 10,000sqft. It makes a difference. As well as what the home is made from . I'm not sure what construction was used on an "edwardian house" but certain materials block wifi better than others. And with the Orbi using a wireless backhaul, if you're home is made from those materials, orbi will struggle.
so what actual size is the home?
what is the interior walls and floors made from?
Are you going to be centrally locating the router and then putting a satellite on each side (or upstairs/downstairs)?

hi,
the house is 3500 sq ft. and solid brick construction with wooden floors and sound dampening insulation in the attic. The virgin router is located in the corner of the lounge and the furthest point from the attic where the PC and TV is located. Unfortunately the router cant be moved. The hope is a daisy chain of 3 orbi satelites on each floor will give a decent enough and reliable connection.
Solid brick interior walls?
Ouch. Brick does a great job of blocking wifi.
there's a chance it *might* work but I'd buy it from someone who has a generous return policy.
Its a lot of $ to invest in *might* work.
30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS📡 to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.
