Is pass-through mode the same as bridge mode?

Is pass-through mode the same as bridge mode? I’m having the same problem as the OP and not sure where to go next.

I’ve tried putting the Orbi in AP mode, but that didn’t work. I can contact Optimum and ask them to put me in bridge mode but I’m not sure what else to do.

Thanks in advance.

  • For ISP modems and ONT with built in routers and wifi, configure the Orbi system for AP mode if the ISP equipment can't be briidged fully. Pass thru is a form of DMZ which mostly puts the traffic flow directly to the internet and not protected by the modems firewall. Which is ok as well since Orbi has a built in firewall as well. If you configure the Orbi system for AP mode, then the ISP modems Pass-thru or DMZ is not needed or recommended for the Orbi in AP mode.

Thanks so much. If I put Orbi into AP mode, should I also have Optimum put my router into Bridge mode?

I put it in AP mode previously without putting the router into bridge mode and I had a lot of problems. Maybe bridge mode is the solution.

NO, If Orbi is in AP mode, the ISP modem needs to be in router mode. If you use the ISP modem in router mode, have the ISP disable ALL wifi radios on the modem.
