Isolate 2.4/5.0 and latest firmware cheat sheet

There used to be a way of SPLITTING the two bands into separate SSIDs via Telnet. This is no longer the case. There is equipment, like cameras, door locks, etc, that I want on a different SSID. I recently re-unboxed my ORBI after moving and the firmware DOWNGRADE to 7.6.2.21 and .31 broke my previous "hack". Any options?

Also, is there any update on what the newer advanced webpage (not the app that controls the bare minimum) options do?

  • most models with v7 firmware now include the "IoT" channel which can be set to 2.4G only.

CrimpOn, Do I need to log into the IoT network to access the accessories or will it connect via my main connection?

I'm also now seeing a WiFi connection SSID (ORBI) in addition to my regular SSID that I've had for years

The IoT network needs to be enabled using the Orbi administration.  (I prefer the web administration over the Orbi 'app')

Enter the model number of the router on this page to find the User Manual:
