Issue with Connecting Google Nest Cameras

Hi,

I have recently updated my Orbi Router and Satellites to firmware version V7.2.6.31_5.0.24 and since doing that I am unable to connect new Google Nest cameras or re-add Google Nest Cameras that were previously working back to my network.

The cameras will connect to the Wi Fi network successfully and you can see an image when going through the set up but at the final part of the process the set up fails with the message "Something went wrong Setup is taking longer that expected".

I was previously on firmware version 4.x and the latest firmware was a massive jump in versions so it seems there has been some serous updates with security that is now stopping things from working - adding google cameras into Google Home (and the Google cloud).  One of the cameras is a floodlight camera and the floodlight itself works but the camera is the part that fails so it seems like there is something blocking the video from registering successfully with Google Home.

I have 4 Satellites and I have powered them all off to make sure they aren't causing issues (not sure how they would as everything is working great in my house).  My router is about 5 meters (15 feet) from the camera that was working of which I removed to test the process after a brand new camera wasn't able to be added - both cameras have the same issue

Does anyone have any suggestions.  Google forums don't seem to be helpful at all and it also seems that this kind of issue happens to people regularly but there never seems to be a fix from Google themselves on how to resolve the issue.

Thanks

  • Are you using same SSID name and PW as before?

    Same channels as well?

Try using the IoT network to get the NEST cameras connected?

Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router and RBS been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
    Turn off and unplug modem.
    Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.
