This problem occurred with both the previous and current V6.3.8.11 firmware versions. In fact the problem happened again after I did the update today which required a restart.
I have never had to power cycle the gateway before but just in case did it a few times while experiencing this problem - made no difference.
I am not trying access devices between both private networks so the double nat environment is not an issue.
Having 2 private networks is intentional. This is not the issue here.
I am happy with the environment that I have - it's been set up this way for the last 10 years across multiple Orbi products.
There is something else going on with the RBR760 when it is either restarted or it's internet cable is removed and put back. It is losing a setting somewhere.

Are you using the blue (2.5 gpbs) LAN port on the BGW320 gateway? Or are you using one of the yellow (1 gpbs) ports?
If you haven't tried both port types on the gateway, I suggest you do that next. It could be a cable issue (the internet cable might not carry multigig reliably). It could of course also be an issue with the RBR WAN port hardware.
