What is brand and model# of this switch?
If you get a 2.5Gb supporting non managed switch connected at the RBR, then you can connect all RBS to this switch and will get 2.5Gb rates to the RBS.

I will give that a try this weekend and report back, and curious what is it about a managed switch that causes the problem? I am using a low-end Netgear managed switch and like many wanted to keep the brand consistent to avoid problems like this.

What is the model# of this switch?
Managed switches introduce some traffic paths that are outside of the main operation path of Orbi systems. Been like this for while now. Only seems to effect when the satellites are connected thru the managed switch. Not seen with non managed switches.
