Need to keep restarting RBRE9606E (AXE) router to get fast Wifi- problem resurfaces AGAIN

Resurface of previous issue. Tried factory reset and that only helped for a week or so...

I have a RBRE9606E (AXE), with 2 satellites.
Firmware V6.3.7.5_3.2.25 ( I know there is a new FW out. the last FW update did not solve this either)

House is 2000sqft. Only using Router and 1 Satellite (satellite is 50-60 feet away. NO ISSUE with satellite )

Issue is with direct line of site wifi connection to ROUTER. See below.

AX enabled on 2.4 GHz and 5 Ghz

2.4 Ghz Channel 11

5 Ghz Channel 36

6Ghz Channel 69

Wireless IoT enabled 2.4Ghz only

The problem is back ( I don't think it ever left, just have dealt with it by restarting the router every 1-2 days (sometimes less.)
Every 1 to 2 days  I need to restart/unplug the Orbi ROUTER to get full speed wifi.

I need to restart the ROUTER because the WIFI (only from the router) slows to a crawl.

NOTE: I can be at the Orbing satellite on the second floor and the WIFI speed is STILL fast and has not slowed down!

This only happens at the ROUTER wifi.

Testing:

I run Ookla speed test via any Wifi device and get like 2 Mbps download down to .4 Mbps when the slow down occurs!! I run the Orbi speed test ( via the orbing app) and that test is almost always 600-700Mbps ( which is what my plan is). I have Comcast modem in bridge mode. Restarting wifi phone or device device does not matter. I have also taken all other wifi connected device off the network (unplugged) and the slowdown still occurs.

After restarting I can then get close to full speed WIFI on my laptop and iPhone. This is from a distance of 3-20 feet away.

There is not much neighbor interference if any. Using Netspot App on laptop shows not conflicting adjacent channels.

I have to restart the Orbi router and the speed goes up to @ 600Mbps as expected. Then sometimes rather quickly it goers back to the slower snail pace.

Because I am getting full speed from Orbi router to modem, I am assuming something is wrong with the Orbi router/ wifi.

I need a solution to this as this does not seem normal. I dont actually see any solutions on the forums. Next stop Netgear support, but one last try here.

Thanks guys!

  • What problem are you seeing?

I see from your last post thread that you didn't give feedback to some questions presented, lets see if we can get some here huh?

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.

For that size of home, the RBR would only be needed. If you have one RBS deployed, I recommend reducing the power to 25% Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings

Try setting channel 1 and 40.

Recommend setting the default DHCP IP address pool range to the following: 192.168.#.100 to 192.168.#.200

Hi, Thank you for the help.

Comcast modem is: xFi advanced gateway, Model XB7 CGM4331COM

I have a CAT 6, 550Mhz verified cable betweenModem and Orbing router.

      I made your suggested changes:

      2.4Ghz set to 1

      5Ghz set to 40

      LAN set-up set to:

      192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.200

Advanced Wireless settings for 5Ghz  and 2.4 Ghz reduced to 25%

For reference I am getting 489 Mbps down, after this change, which is what I always get after a restart of the orbing Router.

Will see if that changes anything?
