New RBK852 connection to security camera

Hello,

Put in a RBK852 Saturday. Everything is working great except 2 of my 3 security cameras, ADT security them put in, are connecting to 5Ghz instead of 2.4Ghz. I have tried different channels, I have tried turning off Enable AX 2.4G with no luck. I have also moved the satellite closer to place it between the two cameras. One is in the Driveway and one is on the back porch almost in direct line with one another. If I can get the two cameras on 2.4 I would be golden.

I am on FW 3.2.18.1_1.4.14

The camera on 2.4G IP is 192.168.1.20   E4:26:86:FE:CD:B3

The two camera on 5G IPs are 1) 192.168.1.16  E8:1B:69:FC:6A:84

                                                   2) 192.168.1.9    E8:1B:69:FC:35:7F

I am not to familar with MAC address' but is the E# designate the connection type? If so can it manually be change?

Is the Guest network a 2.4G only or does it have both connection types?

Also, if I connect my old NightHawk going through the Orbi using a dedicated 2.4 channel is that a work around?

Thank you for your time and help.

  • Is there a reason why there suppose to connect to 2.4Ghz instead of 5Ghz? 5Ghz performs and is faster than 2.4Ghz.

Try turning down the power on the 5ghz radio on the RBR...

At 5ghz it takes forever to load images and if at all. Connection and streaming is very slow.
      • Should be the opposite really.

What is the distance between the cameras and the RBR or RBS?

Also try turning down the power output of the RBRs 5Ghz wifi radios from 100% to 50% and see if this changes anything. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings

You'll need to reboot the cameras to see if they re-connect to 2.4Ghz signal.
