Nighthawk cm2050v & Orbi rbk852

I am having issues trying to connect my nighthawk cm2050v modem to the Orbi router/mesh rbk852. The modem is connected with my xfinity isp perfectly, but the modem and router won’t connect. If keeps telling me to try recycling/powering off and on the modem to initiate the automatic setup but it isn’t connecting indicated by the Orbi app on my phone. Am I doing something wrong? And how can I fix it?

  • Does the front LED on the RBR turn PINK when this happens?

    Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed?
    Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
    Turn off and unplug modem.
    Turn off router and computers.
    Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
    Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
    Turn on computers and rest of network.

     

    What Firmware version is currently loaded?
    Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.

     

     

     

     

  • 1. Trying setting up the internet through the browser if the app isn't working. I've never been a huge fan of the app. 

    2. With the modem connected to the router, check the wan port statistics page to see if the modem is connected to the router. https://kb.netgear.com/24222/How-do-I-display-Internet-port-statistics-on-my-Nighthawk-router

    3. I don't have that specific orbi but does it have under its internet page (through the browser) a setting to choose port for the wan? 

    4. Is the CM2050V new, the orbi new, or both? Might be worth a factory reset on the orbi if you *know* the modem works. 

    5. In that regard, how do you know the modem works?
