Some more details in case anybody has any ideas.
The satellite works fine when connected via wireless backhaul (as it always has).
As soon as I connect it via Ethernet cable, any devices that try to connect to it immediately drop off the network. I can't get any devices to stay connected to that satellite at all.
Anything that is connected to the satellite before I connect the Ethernet cable STAYS connected and continues to work. Which makes me think that the problem is perhaps with DNS allocation or similar.
This setup (one wired, one wireless satellite) worked fine in every previous Orbi firmware version and nothing else about my setup has changed apart from this firmware upgrade.
I didn't do a factory reset before upgrading from 7.2.7.15 (and, frankly, don't really want to go through the hassle) but I followed good upgrade advice (satellites first, then router, followed by a full power cycle) and that has always worked for me in the past.

When the RBS are ethernet connected, are they connected directly behind the RBR or is there any kind of LAN switch in between then? If there is a LAN switch brand and model please.

Yes, a NETGEAR GS108 unmanaged switch. Been using it for years with no problems.

Ok just checking for non managed vs managed.
Something if you can try to test this, if you can, direct connect an RBS to the back of the RBR. I presume this may not change anything. Just checking to make sure the switch isn't causing anything. When you power cycled the system off then back ON, this this include the switch as well?

OK - I don't understand this - but that might have fixed it?
I'm now connecting as follows: RBR850 > RBS850 > Netgear Switch > Other devices
Previously it was: RBR850 > Netgear Switch > Other devices including RBS850
Everything seems to be working OK. Wired and wireless devices are connecting as expected. I've rebooted the satellite too to avoid any potential issues with it "hanging on" to devices as I saw before, so I think it's looking good.
This doesn't make much sense, though, right? Aren't these unmanaged switches supposed to be essentially invisible to the network?
