34 Topics- RBK 853 5gHz Wireless Backhaul IssuesAbout 30 days ago, my otherwise rock-solid Orbi 850 system (RBR + 2 RBS) began to slow way down. After some troubleshooting, I noticed the backhaul was using 2.4 gHz, not the dedicated 5 gHz band and had gone from a daisy-chain config to a star mesh config. The farthest RBS ( about 75 ft from router) shows "poor" in the connection status. I did a factory reset and a reconfiguration from scratch yesterday via the web GUI (not the iOS app). I'm still getting no signals on the 5gHz backhaul (see attached screenshot). Any ideas?
- RBR850 loses management access after power outageAfter a power outage my RBR850 loses the management access. The Internet still works - all devices are connected and working and I can remotely access household published services from the Internet. I can’t access the router console via the app or a web browser. It has its IP address and can be pinged but it isn’t publishing a http port 80. Last time this happened I had to factory reset and restore the backed up config. Has anyone else seen this behaviour? The router is connected to an NBN modem in bridge mode, and has one satellite which also works fine after the power outage.
- How to connect my RBR850 to my KPN network (NL)?Dear community, I am located in The Netherlands. I was so far an happy owner of an RBR850 mesh system ( 1 main device and 2 satallites) for more than 3 years. My internet provider was ODIDO but I have freshly started with KPN and its associated modem. For unknow reasons, I cannot get internet through my mesh system anymore. I read / find complaints about KPN modems not offering the bridge mode and hence doing things in AP mode, but still i cannot get it through ( yes i have proper internet out of the KPN box). Qould some be able to point me towards peoper instructions how to connect RBR850 to a KPN home set up? Thank you in advance. Kind regards Olivier
- RBR850 Slower Than ExpectedI have an RBR850 Router and an RBS850 Satellite connected to a Spectrum-provided modem. I get 1Gb DL and 1Gb UL from the modem, but the Router degrades my speeds. I'm running firmware V4.6.9.11 on each device which 192.168.1.1 believes is the latest. Things I've tested: LAN connection to modem: 1Gb/1Gb LAN connection to router: 700Mb/250Mb WiFI connections to router (vary at times) - Macbook #1: 700Mb/120Mb - Macbook #2: 700Mb/200Mb - iPad: 700Mb/250Mb - iPhone: 750Mb/300Mb Since the speed is good from the Modem and degrades when it hits the Orbi RBR850 Router, I assume I have a Router problem. Who can help? JeffinDallas
- RBS850 Stuck in loop / flashing whiteHi all, My RBS850 satelite seems to have bricked itself. It will just continually flash white when on. I've tried the 30/30/30 and variants of that many times. After browsing everything I could find, I got myself a USB serial adapter and used putty to login to the system. As I suspected, the router just reboots itself over and over. I was able to interrupt the boot and run the fwupdate command, loading the latest version from my PC over TFTP. I'm able to watch it successfully do this in putty, as well as have it confirmed in the TFTP client. However, this has not stopped the behavior. I've done again the 30/30/30, powered off, left on for a long time. It just continually follows this boot pattern in a loop. I've spent a ton of time looking at the putty log and I just don't know enough about this stuff to be able to discern what's going wrong from it. I've linked a log that shows me booting and performing the firmware flashing process described above, followed by it going through one loop of the booting. If anyone can understand what the problem is from this and have any suggestions to try, I would very much appreciate it. Thanks! https://pastebin.com/VKz0ZzPj
- 2.4 ghz connection issuesI have Xfinity internet with a NETGEAR Nighthawk CM3000 modem and a NETGEAR Orbi AX3000 router(RBK653). The internet is great we receive 6 ghz connection on wifi throughout the house; but, I recently purchased the Kohler Moxie wifi showerhead and speaker and have been unable to connect it to my home internet. Speaking with Kohler it appears the system requires a 2.4 ghz connection. I utilized the Orbi app to to change my Iot connection to solely a 2.4 ghz connection and not the 2.4 and 5 ghz but the speaker still can't connect to the home wifi. When I connect my phone to the Iot connection it still shows I have a 6 ghz connection to the system. Any suggestions?
- Orbi 850 main network connection issueI can see both the main and guest ssid when I tried to search for wifi connection. when I tried to connect to the main network, it connects for 1 to 2 seconds and the drops out. connection to guest network is working. this issue happens almost once a month and the only solution that works for me is to do a factory reset everytime. just wanted to check if anyone has similar issue and how do they solve it?
- Advice before purchaseI'm living in a timber farmhouse in a remote area that has no cell reception. I have a dual 4G dual antenna on the roof that points to a cell tower 5 miles away over the hills and is connected to a 4G modem (GL-X750 Spitz v2 CAT 60). The modem is robust and the speed of 15Mbs max is adequate for cell phone calls, internet browsing and streaming, but obviously not blazing. What I want to do is push the signal down to the garage, 16m (52ft) from the modem and out into the house paddock to 20m minimum (66ft). There are 2 timber walls between modem and garage and glass on the sides pointing to the paddock. I was looking at the RBK 852 and the RBK 625 2-packs for their range, not their speed, though I don't want to spend more than I need to. I gather I'd plug the Orbi base 'modem' into the ethernet port of the 4G modem then the single satellite would work off the signal from the Orbi modem, and they both push out a wifi signal I assume the 4G modem would work with an Orbi? My question is, what is the realist range of the signal from these devices, mine would be straight line through glass, so I can get cell over wi-fi reception outside of the house to a reasonable distance. I'm assuming the ones published are theoretical so I'm looking for real world ranges.
- RBK850 - refused to connectHi All, My previously fully functioning RBK850 with the latest firmware does not allow me to connect on his IP address, neither the app can connect. It is simply telling to me "Refused to connect". I tried to power cycle the device with not much luck. I really want to avoid any factory reset - is there any other option? (I have 1 satellite connected)
- Switching to Community Fibre from BT UKHi Does anyone know if the transition from BT FTTP to Community Fibre FTTP is worth it or has anyone on here switched providers? BT is £20 more p/m compared to CF 1Gbps offering which offers symmetrical up and down speeds vs BTs. Id also like to know if anyone who has switched connected their RBR850 direct to the CF ONT and if they know the username/password combo? Or sacked off their ORBI for their own mesh system? Appreciate BT is a major player in the market and CF are newbies, but the saving plus better upload speeds cannot be ignored. I have read good and bad reviews from both suppliers and although I've never had an issue with BT, their reluctance to offer a deal to stay with them has made me look elsewhere. Anything thoughts or experiences would be greatly received! Thanks Chris
