TL/DR: Getting an error message when trying to enable remote access on mobile device using Orbi App: Orbi 850 system in access point mode. There apparently is no place in the Orbi web-based App to enable or disable remote access. (Why is that!?) When accessing the Orbi 850 on a local network via the Iphone app, selecting the "hamburger" in top left and then selecting "Enable Remote Access", I get the error "Some error occurred while enabling/disabling remote management". Hardware Version RBR850 Firmware Version V7.2.7.15_5.1.16 GUI Language Version V3.0.3.12_2.1.30.3 Protection Engine Version 2.2.214.4/1.0.0.2049 Operation Mode AP I believe I have read about a similar error on an earlier version of firmware. I have remarkably similar issues with an RBR850 (router mode) and one single RBS850 connected wirelessly. Hitron CODA56 DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem on ostensibly gigabit cable service. Cable modem never shows a change in status v7.2.7.15 on both devices, successfully updated CAT8 cable between modem and router WAN port At least 30 ft line of sight with a few walls between RBR and RBS (2600 sq. ft house) Several devices connected directly via ethernet I've tried 2.4 GHz channels 1, 6, and 11 and all the allowable channels on 5 GHz I've enabled and disabled logging and all the other settings that have recently been mentioned in this forum Every day, the router randomly cycles between good and bad speeds measured via Orb app on my iPhone 16 Pro Max. Every day, I experience momentary loss of internet connectivity at random times, usually for less than 5 minutes. When I had logging enabled, I saw nothing suspicious before these events, then I saw a flurry of DHCP requests as everything rejoined the network. Please help. None of the suggestions I've seen in this forum for similar problems actually solves anything. They are just a way to whittle around the problem. At least tell us if this is a known issue with the latest firmware because this is driving me crazy.Rbr850 router losing conection with wired modem
I have a modem from kpn provider with a fiber glass connection ( daytek vigor2765ac) and a router with satelites from netgear orbi Rbr 850. After some time i lose conection with the internet. as shown a bove i put out the bridge modus allready in the netgear orbi . i can't do that from the daytek that is not possible fro kpn site . any suggestion/ solutions ?Share your Orbi 350, 750, 850 or 960 series system UpTime
Found on the routers and RBS IP address/debug.htm web page for best details, please post both RBR and RBS uptime. Please note of any inconsistencies between the RBR and RBS. Generally the RBR and RBS uptime should be same. Home wide power brown outs should be noted if these are seen. Thank you.Cannot update RBR850 from V3.2.16.22
Hello, I'm trying to update my RBR850 at our cabin that have been neglected for awhile. I've been at this for two days and are out of options. Details below. Router: RBR850 Firmware: V3.2.16.22 Using online update: the router performs the check, then proceed to "Downloading Firmware" then it ends with "Update failed" - no other error details on the GUI Using manual method. Selected the latest firmware file "RBR850-V7.2.7.15.chk" after clicking upload the GUI shows "Firmware upgrade failed. Please check your file." After doing some searches I ran across an older firmware so I thought I'll try to incrementally update the firmware first using the files from New - Firmware Version 3.2.18.1 for RBR840-850 / RBS840-850 Released | NETGEAR Communities Same error with the manual method. I tried Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Edge. What are my option here? I tried searching the telnet method but couldn't find instructions on how to use telnet to update the firmware. I changed the SXS80 model to RBS850 in Telnet, and wanted to flash the RBS850 firmware, but the firmware failed to pass the verification and could not be flashed. The current problem is that the machine can run normally and can be used normally after connecting to the upper-level router, but the system management interface cannot be displayed, that is, there is no way to turn on the Telnet option and change back to the SXS80 model. Currently, all firmware versions of SXK80 have no restrictions on turning on Telnet. You only need to enter the /debug.html page and check it, but I can't enter it now. Earlier today I did a major reset on my router because it had my entire network totally blocked. So after re-starting everything I have been very carefully stepping through manual and all the different settings and learning a lot along the way. Just a few minutes ago I made it to the Chapter on Access Control. There are three lists of interest in this area. One is for devices that are Allowed and currently On The Internet. A second is a list of devices that are Allowed but not connected to the internet. And the third is a list of devices that are blocked and not on the internet. At my first review of this page I found the following for devices that are allowed and on the internet and devices that are allow but not on the internet. What caught my eye was the first device in the second list. The DESKTOP-I7VILAH is the computer I'm using to type this. So if it is not on the internet how can I be sending this discussion topic? I also attempted to move it via the ADD button or the EDIT button and this didn't seem like it was going in the right direction. Keep in mind I am very nervous on this page because it was this page that reflected everything was 'BLOCKED' and I was unsure how I managed to do that. It was just flakey behavior it seemed. So please help. I feel my Desktop should be in the top list as well as the iphone in that I just did a Google search with this phone so it has to be connected as well. Hi, I have had an RBR850 and two satellites for five years running in AP mode, with no problems until recently. Firmware updates are set to install automatically. Since last week, I’ve been experiencing a lot of issues, even though there have been no changes to the configuration — no new devices, no changes in placement, etc. The most obvious issue is that one of the satellites reboots randomly. I tried a full reboot (long power-off). I also set the 2.4 GHz channel manually to channel 1, set Short preamble. Thinking it might be a firmware issue, I downgraded both the satellites and the router to version V7.2.6.21_5.0.20. This seemed to stabilize things for a day or two, but then the reboots started again. I also tried powering off the modem, router, and satellites, and turning them back on in the correct order: modem first, then router, then satellites. But this didn’t change anything. I repeated the process, but this time I didn’t plug in the satellites. That’s when I noticed that the WiFi from the router was randomly dropping every 5 to 10 minutes, disconnecting my devices (phone or computer), and then reconnecting again. There was no indication on the router (no lights) suggesting it was rebooting. When I reconnected one satellite, it appeared that the WiFi signal drop from the router caused the satellite to reboot. I live in a house with few neighbors, and the distance between the router and satellites hasn’t changed in five years. What also strikes me is that the SSIDs of the Guest network and the IoT network are visible when I scan, even though both networks are disabled on my router. Also, even though I’m running version V7.2.6.21_5.0.20, the system says there is no new firmware available. Beyond a hardware factory, any idea ? Thanks for your advice.SolvedConection problem
I’m using an RBK850 with two satellites. The issue I’m encountering is that I have a Google TV streamer in the living room and a Google Chromecast in the bedroom. The Chromecast repeatedly loses its connection to the Orbi network, even after reconfiguring the connection. Strangely, it works reliably when connected to the guest network. Hello CrimpOn, by reading your post I found exactly the description of my issues as I attempted to integrate a Orbi RBR850 + 3x RBS850 in AP mode with an existing UniFi router. My configuration is: RBR850 is directly connected via its WAN port to one of the UniFI router UDR7 LAN Ethernet ports one RBS850 is wirelessly connected to the RBR and it is visible in the Orbi app Another RBS850 is connected via Ethernet to the UDR7 and it’s NOT visible in the Orbi app another RBS850 is Ethernet connected to an unmanaged TPLink switch which is then connected to the UDR7 via another of its Ethernet ports. The screenshot below shows how the Orbi network appears on the app. Basically only the wireless satellite is recognized. All satellites work and have devices connected to them however the mesh roaming feature doesn’t happen with the wired satellites and I get connection issues when devices roam from the RBR to the wired satellites. I have tried to connect all Orbi devices (RBR and the two wired RBS) to the switch and then the switch to the UDR7 but in this case the two wired satellites would be visible and the wireless one would disappear and never connect to the RBR (permanent blue light on the wireless satellite). Also, In this case I have used the LAN port on the RBR instead of the WAN, as recommended by Netgear with no advantage. Based on your deep understanding of the Netgear network topology logic, do you have a better recommendation on how to configure my network? I need the UDR7 as a router because I have more than 100 network devices and the Orbi doesn’t perform well in Router mode. However I would like to keep using the Orbi system since I paid $1200 for it just to realize that it isn’t performing well with large networks…. thank you.
