Orbi 960 IoT Issues
Hi All,
I have an Orbi 960, 1 router, 2 satellights, and I have been having issues with the IoT network,
Item's disconnecting, up until now a router reboot would solve the issue, now the IoT network is not visible, and when I try an connect to it say's network not found although in the Orbi app its shows some of the devices as connected ??,
Steps Taken so far
Updated Firm ware on all Obi units
Changed Wifi Channel
Turned off IoT rebooted Turned back on again rebooted
I have had numerous calls with Tech Support
when I first got it the IoT network was displaying all the time so it was easy to add smart devices like Lamps, Plug's, Heaters, Thermostats, but if can't see the network for my Phone or Tablet to join I then can't add the devices, I have tried connecting whilst my phone is connected to the main network, with no luck, The Network names are the same Iot just has -IoT at the end .
thanks for any help

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended. What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and 📡 satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS📡 to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.
https://kb.netgear.com/31029/Where-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite 📡What channels are you using? Auto? Try Auto and 48 on 5Ghz. Or try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
Turn off and unplug modem.
Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?

HI, FURRYe38,
thanks for helping out NG tech are now sending a replacement router, as it’s broadcasting IoT intermittently, but the out 2 networks are ok, it may also be that one safelight is not broadcasting 2.4ghz but that’s the next step, after this post i did some investigations and found it i could get IoT now and again next to the router and the other safelight.
As for info request each unit is about 30 meters apart
as for firmware it was the latest version the rolled back 2 versions
also Chanel’s we have tried various
as for other WiFi we see a couple of networks at different points of the house
ISP Virgin Media with super hub 3 but its in modem only mode
have tried several resets
will update when i get the replacement router
thanks again
Ok sounds good.
30 meters maybe a bit too far apart. 12-15 Meters maybe a better starting point.
