Orbi dropout - why can’t it reconnect itself?
Sometimes my fibre internet modem loses connection … when it does the RBKE962 Orbi goes red.
But when the fibre internet gets back up, the Orbi doesn’t reconnect automatically, you have to turn the Orbi off then back on. Then the internet comes on.
My question is, why can’t the Orbi automatically reboot itself once it detects a working internet connection ? Why does it manually have to be turned off and on.
Just to re-iterate … when the fibre internet drops out , I don’t need to turn off the fibre modem, it automatically reconnects. But the Orbi has to manually be turned off and on to regain the connection after a dropout. This is something that should be sorted in a firmware update.

What FW version is loaded on the system?
Routers are meant to be online and connected 24/7, a reboot causes all devices to get disconnected. Should never been needed. If there is a problem on the ISP side then this would need to be checked by the ISP.
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended. There maybe some interoperability issue between the RBR and your ISP device that isn't been handled right between them when that happens. I've not seen that with my Orbi systems, however I have Cable ISP services here.
- drdre892001AspirantI’m using the RBKE962 ORBI system with firmware v7.2.6.21. (Not using .31 as users reporter issues with that)
I’m using the Ethernet cable that came with the Orbi.
I’ve contacted my ISP and they’ve confirmed my ISP fibre modem is not dropping out. It’s been connected for weeks.
So it looks like the issue is my Orbi RBR is dropping out and I have to manually reboot it.
I’m guessing I have to factory reset it again? It seems unstableWhat is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
