Orbi port forwarding not working
Hi, I am trying to set up port forwarding on my Orbi AX4200. The purpose is to set up remote access to my Plex server running on a Synology NAS, which is connected to one of the satellites of my...

"If not [i.e. IPs are not the same] you have Double NAT and two routers, so put your ISP router into bridge mode, change your Orbi from Router mode to AP mode, or port forward the same port(s) from your ISP router to the Orbi's IP." However, I don't know how I could possibly have Double NAT. My Orbi router is directly connected to my Netgear CM700 modem. My provider is Xfinity.
Hmmm, that is interesting. Can you tell us what IP it says in canyouseeme.org and what Internet Port IP it says in your Orbi admin website? The format of the numbers may give us a hint of what is going on here. Also let us know what your router IP address is and the internal IP address you are port forwarding to (just in case).

Hmm. This morning the IPs on canyouseeme.org and the Internet Port in the Orbi interface match (24.130.31.134). This was not the case last night. My internal router IP is 192.168.1.1 and the NAS is set to 192.168.1.9 (static IP; the DHCP range on the router is set to start at 192.168.1.10). However, if I check the port on canyouseeme.org, I still get an error. Remote Access on the Plex server is still not available. Any other clues?
BTW I disabled UPnP in the Orbi interface. The Plex support page says that generally UPnP should allow enabling remote access automatically (without manual port forwarding) but this didn't work for me. This is why I am trying the port forward.
Thanks.

Sorry, I don't see what else could be wrong. This post reported similar Plex port forwarding difficulties but did not post a solution: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi-WiFi-6-AX-and-WiFi-6E-AXE/Port-Forwarding-Not-Working/td-p/2108524
One thing is check that your Plex server port 32400 is really running per: https://support.plex.tv/articles/200931138-troubleshooting-remote-access/. Are you able to access your Plex server within your own network via this internal IP address and port 32400?

Yes, I can access the plex server internally via web browser (<name of nas>:32400) and also via the plex app on my phone. In both cases I see my personal library.

Is "Remote Access on the Plex server is still not available" the exact error message displayed on the canyouseeme.org site when you enter the port number? Because that site doesn't know the nature of the port and would not know it is for Plex, implying that something on the Plex side is generate this particular error message string.
It also looks like there is a Disable Remote Access feature in Plex: https://www.reddit.com/r/PleX/comments/69gc1x/why_doesnt_disable_remote_access_disable_remote/. Check that you don't have that Plex setting enable.

No, the error message on canyouseeme.org is
---
Error: I could not see your service on <ip> on port (<port>)
Reason: Connection timed out---
As you say, canyouseeme.org doesn't know this is for Plex.
The following is the error message on the Plex server (NAS) browser interface, on the Settings --> Remote Access page. This is after enabling remote access:

You currently have Remote Access enabled through a manually-specified port. If you wish to disable Remote Access, you will need to remove your manual port forwarding from your router.

I think my next step is to reset the Orbi to factory settings and reconfigure from scratch. Not sure when I'll get to that.
