Orbi RBR750 Amazon Prime VPN issue

I've been using the RBR750 mesh and Amazon Prime for a few years with no problem.  About 3 weeks ago, all of a sudden Amazon Prime started blocking me from watching any video with the message that it thinks I'm using VPN or proxy server (on all devices, either wired or wireless).

I'm certain that I'm not using VPN, I've tried everything including recommended solutions from various online sources, Amazon support, ISP support but couldn't get it to work.

I eventually found the issue is caused by the RBR750 router because when I plugged my laptop directly into the modem it worked (no VPN message).  The VPN message only appears when going through the Orbi RBR750 router (either wired or wifi).

Can anyone provide suggestions on what configuration can be changed to resolve this issue?

Thanks

could be on Amazon's backend something changed.

If its working, I'd mark it solved so others aren't still trying to fix it.

  • What a puzzle!  Apart from, "this is impossible", I have no idea what's wrong.

Could you please confirm something with an experiment?  Both when connected to the Orbi system and directly to the ISP device, check the results of these two web sites:

    https://www.whatismyip.com

    https://whatismyipaddress.com

Do they both show the same information for both Orbi and ISP device?

(including the IPv6 address and the Physical location?)

What device is being used to watch Amazon Prime videos? (besides the laptop?)

When I connected using Wifi or plugged directly into the Orbi hub, I get the same IPv4 address however it is different (last octet) than then IPv4 address when plugged directly into the modem.

The IPv6 address was showing "Not Detected" for all connections.

I usually watch Prime on my Android phone (same "VPN" message as on the laptop).

The phone shows the same IPv4 as the laptop (when it was connected using Wifi or wired to Orbi) and similarly IPv6 showing Not Detected.

The modem is Sercom DM 1000, provided by the ISP.

      Thanks

Try a different DNS Server. Here's a few. Also remember to change the ipv6 dns server if ipv6 is enabled.
        CloudFlare
        IPv4: 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1
        IPv6: 2606:4700:4700:0:0:0:0:1111 and 2606:4700:4700:0:0:0:0:1001
        GoogleDNS
        IPv4: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
        IPv6: 2001:4860:4860:0:0:0:0:8888 and 2001:4860:4860:0:0:0:0:8844
