Its only 1 generation unless you're counting 6E as a generation. Its moving from AX to BE.
I wouldn't upgrade unless you start paying for multigig speeds. The investing is quite a bit and won't net you much benefit.
The RBK750 is pretty solid and should handle a 1 gig home without issues. Yes, you might not max out the 1 gig over wireless but most devices don't need "MAX SPEED!!!!" unless you're speedtesting. They're good with lower speeds. Even myself, I really haven't noticed any speed change after 300mbps and I've got 2 gig service. The only reason I pay for multigig is because of testing routers/networking gear.
