Orbi RBR850 and Web Management Services

Client has an RBR850 and 3 satellites running Firmware v4.6.9.11_2.3.5.  Had to restart the unit recently because we could not get to the web interface for settings.  Even after restarting and getting into the web interface we could not use remote web management even though it was enabled.  Went to reset this option and now it does not show on the web page to re-enable.  Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

    As FURRYe38 indicated, Netgear decided to remove remote web administration from the Orbi product line, even though the Orbi app lacks the capability to "administer" any of the advanced features of the system.

     

    The only options open to users now are:

    • Configure some computer on the LAN for remote access, which is non-trivial. Log into that computer from the internet and use a web browser on it to administer the router.
    • Enable OpenVPN on the router (in the Advanced Settings menus), which is also non-trivial.  Then, create an OpenVPN session through the internet to the router and use a web browser remotely to administer the router.

    I, personally, enabled OpenVPN and can administer my Orbi router remotely from a smartphone, tablet, or laptop.  (The web admin screen is not user friendly on a small smartphone screen, so this is a "last resort".)
