Orbi850R three pack refusing to communicate with 850S satellites

I bought the WiFi6 Orbi 850R plus 2x 850S as a "three pack" from amazon, I also bought three additional 850S's to expand my network coverage.

The "three pack" works fine, however, I cannot get the additional 850S's to register on the network, the Net gear help line directed me to a dealignment of firm ware apparently I need the three 850S's to be updated to Firm Ware 7.2.6.31, software which Iven now downloaded and have checked the three pack is in line with.

However, since I can't see the 850S's on the network how can I download the new Firmware to update them.

So far I tried, factory resets  on the 850's, rebooting repeatedly, directly wiring into the Router ports, all to no success.

I would really appreciate some assistance, I've been wafting on Net Gear support to call for a day!

  • After downloading the satellite firmware file from the Netgear support site and extracting the firmware from the *.zip file, there is a method that some users have found enables them to update firmware on a satellite:

Orbi AX and AXE series satellites have a self service web page at 192.168.10.250. Given enough time after a satellite is factory reset and NOT connected to anything, this self service web page can be accessed by connecting a PC to the satellite with an Ethernet cable. (The process is a bit tedious😊  The PC must be disconnected from the local network and cabled directly to the satellite.  Set the PC to a Static IP in the 192.168.10.x/subnet with subnet mask 255.255.255.0  Wait 5 minutes and open a web browser to 192.168.10.250 and the satellite web interface should appear.  The current firmware running on the satellite will be displayed, and the Firmware Update menu option can be used to manually load a firmware image on the satellite.  After the satellite reboots with the same firmware as the Orbi router, it can be powered off and reconnected to the Orbi network, where it should be recognized.  Then, the PC can be returned to the regular DHCP setting and reconnected to the network.

I’ll give that a try as you say tedious but I’m getting used to that, thank you
