Orvi RBR760 connectivity issues from internet to router

Trying to understand what the symbols on the orbi app network map mean here. It's not an issue with my ISP. I'm repeatedly having this issue and then having connectivity issues with my devices. Power cycling is a temporary solution. I can't seem to find others with the same issue from my searching online.

  • What modem/gateway is it connected to?

what makes you think its not issues with the isp?

Not sure if this is the correct information, but it's Opticomm FTTP. I'm not overly knowledgeable about this topic beyond a basic understanding. I called my ISP today and they couldn't see any issues on their end.

Do they have an ONT or gateway? Look at whatever is supplying ethernet to the orbi and find the model number on it

  • The Green symbol

indicates that the satellite is connected to the router using the default WiFi connection and the connection is "Good".

    The Red symbols

indicate that the router's connection to the internet is not working.

Since the internet connection is an Ethernet link to that Opticomm FTTP box, the first steps that are often recommended are:

    • Replace the Ethernet cable and ensure that it is 'snapped in' correctly on both ends.
    • Connect some other device to the FTTP box and see if it gets an internet connection.  (Desktop, laptop)
This is becoming a bit more difficult for many customers as fewer and fewer people have desktop computers and laptops often do not include an Ethernet port.  I purchased Ethernet to USB adapters from Amazon (with both USB-A and USB-C plugs) so that I can connect the USB port on a laptop, tablet, or phone to Ethernet.
If this device gets a connection, that puts focus on the Orbi router.  If this device fails to get a connection, the focus is on the ISP.

Apologies for the delay in response.
I've reset my Orbi and that seems to have completely broken it.
While trying to set it up again in the app, it will get to the point where it checks the cables and checks the internet connection. It says there is no internet. I tried this on my old Nighthawk and it was giving me the same result in the app set up.

I called my ISP and did further troubleshooting:

      • They did some reset with the provider, OptiComm = Same result.
      • Connected a laptop directly to the modem = Internet connection.

My ISP could see that the modem was detecting the Netgear routers MAC addresses, but that they were getting stuck into some kind of loop.

I went and purchased a cheap router to test with another device and that has connected and given an internet connection no problem, so the issue is with Netgear at some point.

  • We still don't know what this ONT/Gateway is that the orbi is connected to.... Those details help. Netgear devices don't play as nicely in a double nat as other manufacturers

I can't actually reach the side of if in order to see the model number. It's a Nokia and looks like this:

I think I found it online: Nokia 7368 ISAM ONT G-010G-Q

  • Got a cheap unmanaged switch sitting around? I've seen a few posts on here with Nokia ONT's (are they just an ONT? Their specs lead me to believe they have some traffic modeling) that had issues. Some were fixed with simply using an unmanaged switch in between them.

You might check with the ISP to see if they need a specific vlan setup for the ONT.
