Questions on 1 DoS attack log entry

I just saw one DoS entry in my log this morning:

[DoS attack: DoSPortScan] from source 192.168.1.153,port 59847 Thursday, Aug 24,2023 16:49:38

My question is, it says the source is an internal IP address on my network (192.168.1.153) - it's a Ethernet-wired MacBook Pro. I am not that familiar with DoS, wouldn't it be from an external source? This Mac is pretty safe (updated OS, regular malware/virus scans), anything I should look for just in case or is it likely a false positive? Also, what is port 59847? It didn't show anything obvious when I searched for it - like an app or web site usage for instance?

Thanks!

  • Sometimes those are false positives.

MIght scan your mac for any malware.

Do you use your mac with IoT devices?

Try disabling Limit IP address Tracking on the mac under networking for the connection.

HI FURRYe38 , no IoT, Malware scans are clean and have been. Probably a false positive, if it persists I'll try turning off the 'limit ip address tracking', as this is the first time I've seen it!
