RBK753 running firmware 7.2.7.15

I started facing the exact same issue with my RBK753 running firmware 7.2.7.15 (it’s the latest, apparently) after I moved houses recently and decided to use the separate IoT WiFi Network feature while setting up the new place.

Initially I used my ISP’s ONT/ Router with the Orbi connected to the LAN port and since this issue arose I thought it’s a NAT conflict, got the ISP’s router changed to bridge mode used Orbi as the router and the problem still persisted. I ended up blaming the ISP and even switched ISPs and decided to purchase my own ONT with the new ISP. It’s only at this stage that I realised that the problem must be with the Orbi Mesh System. I can’t believe that I spent 3 months running around in circles.

After coming across a thread on Reddit, I changed the SSIDs and passwords for main and IoT networks the problem seems to have disappeared.

What’s surprising is that the Orbi app suggests identical passwords for the IoT network during setup using the app or the web interface.

It a shame that this problems seems to be a long standing one and the solution is not widely posted by Netgear on any support site or even Netgear Community Forums.

I wish I had turned to the trusted Reddit community earlier.

  • The original post actually a reply to a post regarding RBS750 not being able to assign IP addresses to various devices. I was able to find a possible solution on Reddit which involved having completely different names and passwords for the main SSID and the IoT network. I tried that but the same problem recurred after one day. I am now trying to disable the IoT network completely and switching to a single SSID. Let’s see!
