RBK853 and assigning device IP addresses like my ISP router does

My ISP router assigns IP addresses in the 192.168.0.xxx range.  Of course, I have my Orbi connected to the ISP router.

I want any new device that connects to the Orbi to be issued an IP address in the same 192.168.0.xxx range.

The Orbi is assigning IP addresses in the 172.16.0.xxx range to new wireless devices.

How do I fix this?

  • Put the Orbi router into Access Point (AP) mode. That way, all devices get IP addresses directly from the ISP router.

If the Orbi is in router mode, the LAN side of the router must be a different IP subnet from the WAN side. Thus, the Orbi cannot possibly be set to hand out IP addresses in the same subnet as the ISP is.
